Mantra Monday: Sunset at Half Moon Bay

Today is Mantra Monday!

Namaste:

What does Namaste mean?

Pronounced: Nah-mah-stay

In sanskrit Namaste means the light in me honors the light in you.  Or the spirit within me honors the spirit in you.  It’s a honorable and humble way to end a yoga class by honoring those in the room with you.

Namaste can also be used as a greeting.  Just like you would say, “Hello,” or “Aloha.”

A gesture of the palm of the hands pressing into one another, closing the eyes and bowing the head while saying namaste is showing respect to those around you.  It means you are no greater than those around you, everyone is equal.  Everyone is a teacher and has a light within them and we honor the teacher and light in each and every one of us equally.  We are united, we are one.  There is no competition amongst each other.

The Sunset:

Take time to watch the sunset.  It’s beautiful to see the changing colors, shadows and clouds as the sun goes down past the horizon.  It will make you appreciate nature and to be grateful that you are able to experience this life on earth.

There is beauty all around us.  From the sparkling grains of sand, the waves crashing and the sun shining I was grateful to experience the beauty of this sunset at Half Moon Bay in California.
