Mantra Monday : Put it Down

Today is Mantra Monday!

“Be in the present moment.”

We are glued to our phones, computers, any and all devices throughout the day every single day. Take a moment to put all electronic devices down and experience the real life in front of you.

When we pick up our phones we are focused on what will happen in the future or what someone said or commented on in the past. We lose track of what is happening right now.

Practice being in the present moment by putting all devices down for 10 minutes today. Have conversations with people and resist the urge to look at your phone. Resist the urge to think about what email you are waiting for, what email you need to send next and just focus on the person you are interacting with. Listen to the words they are saying and bring your awareness to that very moment.

The multi tasking mind brings us further away from the present moment.

Do your friends, your coworkers and your family a favor and put down your devices for 10 minutes today and just be there.

Do it for you too. This practice of being in the moment will help calm your mind and body.

“Be in the present moment.”

Here’s a video of Louis C.K. sharing his experience and awareness of putting down the phone and how it impacted his family.

"One thing I realized, in life, is that you can’t just go by how a person reacts to you."- Louis C.K.
