Today is Thankful Thursday!

We should be more appreciative of the food we get to eat on a daily basis.  When I was younger I thought it was silly and not important to bless food before eating it.  I now believe the exact opposite.  Showing gratitude for nature providing us with nutritious food, the farmers for growing it, chefs, friends, family and ourselves for preparing it and to be able to purchase it are all great reasons to be appreciative.  Blessing our food with a positive mindset can also aid in digestion and absorption.  Having negative or angry thoughts about the food can negatively effect us and sometimes cause bloating and illness after eating.  When cooking food for yourself and for others you should be happy and joyful putting as much love as possible into the food you are preparing.  Positive thoughts go a long way.

I am so very thankful that I am able to purchase food and nourish my body.  There are many people out there that do not have the same privilege.  Be thankful, not only on Thankful Thursday but every single day.

Here’s my blessing before I eat, give it a try and make it a tradition in your family too!

“I bless this delicious and nutritious food as it nourishes my mind, body and soul.  Giving me the proper energy, focus, intuition and beautiful, soft, smooth, glowing, youthful skin.  Everything gets put to use as energy and nothing gets stored.  I am so very grateful.  Namaste!”

Sometimes I add in after focus and intuition; patience, compassion and other things that I may want to cultivate more of.

I mention smooth, glowing skin because I have battled with facial skin issues due to eating certain things and I want good, healthy benefits from eating food, not harmful effects.

When I say everything gets put to use as energy and nothing gets stored I mean my body absorbs the nutrients and converts it into beneficial energy instead of storing it as fat or no use at all.

I like to say Namaste but you can say “Amen,” “Thank You,” or anything you’d like.

Saying a blessing brings you closer to the awareness of how grateful you are to have the food in front of you when we typically gloss over these every day things and take them for granted.
